Thanksgiving 2010, part 2

I am one of about a million cousins. My dad is one of six children, and there is nothing quite as fun as a Malley family reunion -- they're chaotic and hectic, but you'll never laugh so hard or have such a blast. When my cousins and I were younger, we promised that we'd still get together as grown ups, even after we were older and had our own kids. None of us came from as large a family as our parents did, so we wanted to make sure we still got to enjoy the perks of having a millions kids around at all times. This past August, we got to hang out in the Thimble Islands, and Chase got to know his cousins Jack and Helen. He absolutely adores them and it was great to see this next generation of cousins enjoying each other as much as their parents did at that age (and still do).

So this Thanksgiving we trekked down 95 to spend the holiday with one of those cousins -- Sara and her family. We left Thursday morning and made it to DC in record time, despite some traffic at the Delaware-Newark tolls (is there EVER not traffic there?).

We had a really great time -- Chase loves playing with Jack and Helen and Andrew and I love spending time with Sara and Mike. And the food was ridiculously good. Sara and Mike don't mess around -- everything was from scratch, and cooked perfectly. There wasn't a single thing I didn't absolutely love, and not just because I'm eating for two. Dinner was delicious, and to top it off, Sara baked three incredible pies -- pecan, pumpkin and apple, all from scratch, of course. Thank goodness for maternity pants.

We woke up early this morning (mostly because Chase couldn't wait to get up and play with Jack and Helen again) and the kids had a breakfast picnic of pancakes and bacon. Then it was time to hit the road back to Philly!

Mmmmm... pancakes-from-scratch and Merry Madagascar
